PROJECT
The Coast Guard swimming pool in Qatar is a facility dedicated to both the training of security personnel and recreational and sporting activities. Designed in accordance with strict operational and safety standards, the facility plays a vital role in physical training, swimming instruction and rescue operations training.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
As a particularly busy environment, the pool area presented complex acoustic challenges. The high volume of people, combined with the high ceilings, generated significant levels of reverberation and noise, with potential implications for communication, safety and general comfort. Furthermore, the space required the use of materials capable of withstanding constant exposure to humidity, whilst ensuring long-term durability and hygiene.

To meet these requirements, Mappy Italia proposed a combination of Mappyfiber Twinsound Rettangolo and Mappyfiber Flat Quadrato sound-absorbing panels.

Mappyfiber Twinsound panels were installed on the ceiling, featuring a core of Silsonic regenerated fibre and covered in fabric in shades of light blue and blue. The regenerated fibre composition also ensures high resistance to moisture, preventing any damage caused by splashes and condensation and preserving the panels’ performance and integrity over time.

Mappyfiber Flat panels, also made from regenerated fibre and covered in fabric, have been fitted to the walls; these further enhance sound absorption whilst blending harmoniously with the overall design of the space.

THE RESULT: a sports facility characterised by optimised acoustics, where noise is effectively controlled and communication is clear. The facility is thus able to support elite training standards, whilst offering a durable, moisture-resistant and sustainable acoustic solution designed to ensure high performance and long-term well-being.
