SUSTAINABILITY
AND PERSONAL WELLBEING

WE ARE DEDICATED TO YOUR ACOUSTIC WELLBEING WHILE RESPECTING THE ENVIRONMENT

Sustainability and human well-being are closely connected concepts that are becoming increasingly important in everyday life. And not only that: for Mappy Italia, they are also two of the key principles that guide many of our business choices and practices.

Every day, we are committed to promoting a business model that is attentive to and respectful of both the environment and people’s quality of life.

How do we do this?

This is how Silsonic is born – our eco-friendly panel par excellence – and with it, all of our coupled products.

Environmental impact is therefore central to all our products made from regenerated fibre, a recycled material given a second life.

According to a study conducted by ICIS (Independent Commodity Intelligence Services) entitled “PET market in Europe“, in 2022, 5 million tonnes of PET were used in packaging placed on the European market. Of these, 3 million tonnes were recycled, bringing the collection rate to 60%. The majority of recycled PET packaging consisted of plastic bottles, totalling 2.8 million tonnes, making PET one of the most widely recycled plastics.

The use of recycled PET in place of virgin resin therefore translates into reduced energy consumption, lower costs, a reduced environmental impact in terms of less waste sent to landfill and incineration, and prevention of pollution by reducing the need to produce new raw materials.

Furthermore, one of the greatest environmental emergencies affecting our planet is the pollution caused by plastic in the oceans: approximately 8 million tonnes of plastic waste enter the sea every year.

A report published by WWF on the subject also notes that Europe, the second largest producer of plastic materials after China, releases 307–925 million pieces of waste into the oceans annually, 82% of which is plastic derived primarily from bottles, bags, packaging and wrappers.

One of the objectives behind MAPPY ITALIA’s choice to use recycled PET for Silsonic and its laminated products is precisely the reduction of further plastic production, thereby decreasing the waste that could contaminate our oceans and endanger the entire ecosystem.

THE PANEL THAT RESPECTS PEOPLE'S WELLBEING

Regenerated fibre, in addition to being environmentally friendly, is also attentive to people’s wellbeing and health.

How?

Silsonic has been awarded the Indoor Air Comfort Gold certification, which confirms the low VOC emissions of fibre products, underscoring their effectiveness in improving indoor air quality.
Testing is carried out by EUROFINS following several protocols, including the Italian, French, German, British and American standards.

Through this assessment, Silsonic also contributes to earning additional credits under the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) programme, as do a number of our other products.

LEED standards define the requirements for constructing eco-compatible buildings in terms of energy efficiency and environmental resource consumption throughout the construction process, and are evaluated across the following areas: site sustainability, water efficiency, energy and materials, and indoor air quality.

Eco-sustainable products such as Silsonic therefore play a crucial role in meeting LEED standards, and the selection of the right materials helps earn certification credits, contributing to a greener future in construction.

Tests on the effects of mould and bacteria have demonstrated that Silsonic is not a nutritive medium for microorganisms, meaning fungi and bacteria cannot grow within it.

Regenerated fibres are safe and show no erosion inside ventilation ducts – meaning no breakage, flaking, abrasion or delamination caused by airflow.
Furthermore, the fibres are long, thermally bonded and contain no binding additives, allowing the material to retain its natural properties.

Silsonic has been certified for use in HVAC systems in accordance with VDI 6022 standard, ensuring compliance with the most stringent hygiene requirements in the sector.

SHORT SUPPLY CHAIN IN RAW MATERIAL SOURCING

At Mappy Italia we also believe in the importance of a short and sustainable supply chain for the procurement of raw materials. This approach leads us to favour geographically close suppliers, thereby reducing transport distances and minimising the environmental impact associated with greenhouse gas emissions.

Why do we favour a short supply chain?

  • Pollution reduction: by minimising transport distances, we significantly reduce CO2 emissions released into the atmosphere.
  • Logistical efficiency: a short supply chain means faster delivery times and greater flexibility in supply management, resulting in a higher level of service for our clients.

THE PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM FOR CLEAN ENERGY PRODUCTION

Further evidence of the company’s green commitment, since 2022 MAPPY ITALIA has been using a photovoltaic system to generate electricity; a system that in 2025 was further expanded by an additional 100 kW, bringing the total capacity to 330 kW. Harnessing the sun as a natural resource allows the company to produce clean energy and contribute to a more sustainable production cycle, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.

SUSTAINABLE CERTIFICATIONS:
the EcoVadis Bronze Medal

Mappy Italia has been awarded the Bronze Medal in the EcoVadis certification scorecard, the globally recognised assessment platform that provides corporate sustainability ratings based on ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria. These dimensions serve as our guidelines for measuring, monitoring and supporting our commitment to sustainability and ethics.
