PROJECT DESCRIPTION
For the elegant swimming pool within the complex, the architect’s vision was to create large architectural and acoustic elements with a distinctive design, capable of surprising and going beyond the limits of traditional wooden panels.
After several meetings and brainstorming sessions with the designer, Mappy Italia’s technical team developed a solution based on large curved Mappywood Perforated wooden elements, shaped like shells and finished with a brushed coating to enhance their brightness. To improve acoustic performance, Silsonic—our sound-absorbing panel made of regenerated and recycled fiber in black—was integrated on the back of each element.
This led to the creation of Mappywood Shells: custom-made acoustic and architectural elements, defined by soft curved shapes and surface perforations which, combined with the Silsonic sound-absorbing fiber, ensure high acoustic performance.
THE RESULT: A custom system of wooden shell elements with fluid lines and large dimensions, capable of redefining the expressive potential of the material: visually iconic, acoustically refined and environmentally sustainable. The swimming pool is transformed into a design space where people can relax among striking architectural elements while benefiting from optimal acoustics.
