Acoustic insulation for underfloor screed

Impact sound insulation mats for acoustic insulation in the SUB-SCREED layer

The use of technical soundproofing mats for sub-screed applications is particularly suitable in double-layer subfloors. They are installed above the lightweight screed used to cover building systems and below the bedding screed of the floor in order to provide acoustic insulation between floors, limiting — depending on the product selected — the propagation of impact noise.

This is why they are commonly referred to as “impact sound insulation mats”.

Our soundproofing mats for sub-screed applications are recommended for all situations where an increase in the sound insulation performance of the floor slab is also required. They require screed thicknesses of no less than 5 cm. For thinner screeds, it is advisable to reinforce the screed with a suitable mesh to prevent cracking.

PERIMETER EDGE STRIP
For the correct installation of the sub-screed mat, an adhesive acoustic perimeter edge strip is used. Different types are available depending on the required layer structure. It should be installed along the perimeter and joined with the impact sound insulation mat already laid, in order to create a “tray” effect.
